hello there,

You can call this a modern day scrapbook/portfolio of my work: collections of paintings, sketches, doodles, photography and perhaps some film (when i have time). This will be another creative outlet aside from writing (http://gabdez.blogspot.ca/). This blog will also act as a form of motivation to develop my art and to view my progress later on.

Little Red-Cap.

today the most ridiculously amazing idea and inspiration popped into my head. it's all got to do with two brothers by the names of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. their stories have inspired so many fables and children's stories/movies and now they have inspired me for what could possibly be the biggest artistic challenge i have ever thought up.
i am going to attempt to do a series of paintings, illustrations, photography and perhaps even some very short films based on several of the brother's dark tales. i am so extatic and full of inspiration it's mind boggling i just want to go create right this second.

little red- cap

i will begin my series with little red-cap (commonly known as little red ridding hood) tomorrow. wish me long this series could take a year or so...

sneak peak?

here's a bit of a peak of a charcoal drawing i started today. it's just about done, just need to touch it up and draw in the volume and little details.

can you guess who? betcha you can't.

Degas

first official homework from my painting class. we were to select a work from a list of famous artists and try to mimic their painting technique. i chose to re-create one of Edgar Degas potraits from his collection of women sitting and brushing their hair or stepping in/out of the tub. i don't know why but i love drawing or painting the woman body. something so delicate and elegant about it. anywho below is his orignal painting, i still need to go back at touch mine up. not quite satisfied yet but i spent a good 5-6 hours painting it.

Degas is  most known for his dancers (danseuse) series which i loved when i was younger. i remember look at the ballerina's and thinking how beautiful their tutu's were and how delicate they looked.

interesting fact i learned from my professor seabel: he was pretty much a creeper. he adored woman and was fascinated with them but never had the courage to go up and talk to them. due to his shyness he painted/drew these woman from a distance where they didn't even notice him. bizarre but brilliant.

Blaire Witch Project

wandering in a forest with a disposable camera and my boyfriend. it wasn't as eerie as the camera colouring makes it seem, but i like the mystery it adds to it.

i edited this one on photo shop to enhance the leaves and ripples but alas it won't upload to blogger

whip it, whip it real good

some photos taken with a disposable camera i purchased at walmart- 13 buckaroos and it included free prints and a cd  (hence why i was able to upload them onto the computer without the task of scanning them). it was a fun little experiment, except when i forgot to use flash and everything was dark and blurry. easy to edit except the edited ones won't upload.
